This display case in the lobby of Chicago's McCormick Place shows some of the products still made here. The ones formerly made here would fill two exhibition halls. In the west building. The sites of their former factories are condos, office buildings, vacant brownfields and, in one case, Chicago's first Wal-Mart. A cold, hard fact the labor unions need to consider very carefully.

On-Cor Foods are still made in Chicago…mean frozen lasagna…glad to see Tootsie Rolls! Man…I’ve eate them for over 50 years!
In the news today: Ford is changing the name of the Five Hundred to Taurus, and the Freestyle crossover to Taurus X. Turns out the name Taurus had an 80% name recognition, versus 20% for the name Five Hundred. The change will be officially introduced at the Chicago Auto Show. Whatever keeps the Torrance plant humming, I say.
JAY’S POTATO CHIPS!
Wow, that was a punch in the gut. There used to be a Schwinn factory on the west-northwest side, roughly Cortland/Pulaski area. Thanks so much for posting these vids, especially for those of us who have moved away from the great old city.
